Here’s How Much Salt Is Too Much Salt
Most people do not eat enough salt to cause them harm, a study found.
A moderate amount of 3 grams to 5 grams a day did not increase heart attack or stroke risk. The research was published in The Lancet.
For those eating more the health risk was virtually eliminated if they ate plenty of fruits and vegetables.
Canadian experts studied 95,000 people in 18 countries.
Professor Andrew Mente said: “Our bodies need essential nutrients like sodium.”
The CDC says adults shouldn’t have more than 2.3 grams of salt a day.
Too much is linked to high blood pressure.
