　　重音的发音规则和方法

　　Ÿ 句子重音的功能：

　　a.体现句子的节奏感和韵律感;

　　b.突出重点,使听者更容易理解。

　　Ÿ 一般方法：

　　a.在句子中需重读的词为实词，比如，名词、动词、形容词、副词、数词、代词等;

　　b.不重读的多为虚词,比如,冠词、连词、介词、感叹词等;

　　c.be动词及助动词和not结合表否定时需重读。

　　Ÿ 新信息原则

　　在答语或语段中，再次出现的不含有新信息的实义词，通常不重读;表示新信息的词要重读。

　　Eg. How many students are there in the classroom?——There are fifty students in the classroom.

　　Ÿ 强化性原则

　　为了强调某词，无论是实词还是虚词，均须重读。

　　Eg. What does he like best?——He likes to play basketball best, like her.

　　Listen to the end of the life expectancy audio recording again and underline the words in each sentence that carry the main stress. Two have been done for you.(学生自主练习)

I know that about two thirds of Botswana is desert, but I also know it has a great natural resource, diamonds, so it's a relatively wealthy country and it only has a small population.
