Season/Weather
1. What’s the best season of the whole year? / What sort of weather do you like the most?
I think summer is the best season of the whole year. For on hot summer days, I can drive all the way down to the beach with several good friends, drink beer by the seaside, and enjoy the beautiful sunlight. I just can’t think of anything better than that.
2. What do people normally do in that season?
Well, in summer, people often go swimming with their family members in the sea. Sometimes they’d also choose to spend their weekends somewhere in a mountain, trying to avoid the scorching sunlight.
3. What’s the weather usually like in your country/hometown?
I come from Chengdu, and the weather there is mild and humid all year around, featuring four clear-cut seasons - short and warm spring, long and sultry summer, cool and rainy autumn, and cold and foggy winter. The distinctive characteristics of Chengdu weather is foggy and humidity. There are fewer hours of sunlight per day, and the summer is hotter and the winter is colder than most of its neighboring provinces.
4. Would you say the weather in your hometown is suitable for working?
Well, not really. It’s usually hot and humid in summer and cold and foggy in winter in my hometown. Trust me, you just wouldn’t want to think of going out to work on days like that.
5. Would you like to move to a place with different weather?
Well to be honest, though the weather in my hometown is not that suitable for living, I’d still want to continue my life there after graduating from college. All my family members have long been dwelling in this place. I, as part of my family, also got deeply attached to it, and that’s reason why I choose to stay.
6. Has the weather in your country changed much over the past few years?
Compared to the past, the weather did have changed a lot over recent years. Well, it seems that the summer has been lasting longer than it did when I was little. Plus, the temperature during the whole year is also getting much higher. For example, in Suzhou, a city located in southeast China, the temperature can go up to 40 degrees Celsius in summer. Going out on hot days like that would be a torture to anyone.
7. Do you usually pay attention to weather forecasts?
Yes, I often check weather forecasts the moment I wake up in the morning, so as to decide what to wear for the day. I got couple of weather-related apps on my cell phone, keeping me informed about the temperature, humidity and wind forces of the day. I find them quite useful and like them a lot.
