　　1. No...not this time round...because it’s the first one...you know. 不，这一次不评分，你知道，因为这是第一次。

　　该句的难点：“this time round”的意思就相当于“not this time”。另外“you know”没有什么具体含义，只是一个口头禅。

　　2. ...cos not a lot of people know where the islands are...因为很多人不知道那些岛屿在哪里。

　　首先，“cos”是口语中对“because”的省略。另外否定词在“people”和在“know”前面的意思差不多。

　　3. Dr. White said we shouldn’t go into that sort of detail. White博士告诉我们不要讨论那些细节。

　　go into是“讨论”或者“研究”的意思。

　　4. Nope...that goes in the Language Policy Seminar...don’t you remember?不，那个将在语言政策讨论会上讲，你不记得了吗?

　　“that”指的是上文提到的“the role of English language”。“nope”是口语中表示否定的一种方式。

　　5. Dr. White said he wanted us to use plenty of visuals and things and we might as well try them out when we’re not being assessed...White博士说他想让我们多用一些视觉的东西，尤其是在不评分的时候还可以多尝试一些其他东西。

　　“visuals”指PPT或者其他的视觉设备。

　　6. ...the islands are going to be more of a problem. 那些岛屿的地图更加成问题。

　　“more of”的含义是“更大程度上，更多的”。

　　7. Nah...not up-to-date enough!不，不够新!

　　“up-to-date”的意思是“最新的”。

　　8. Oh...someone is enthusiastic!啊呀，有人相当有激情啊!

　　这里有讽刺的意味。
