　　武汉会战是抗日战争中一场大规模战役，1938年6月至10月，中国部队以湖北武汉地区为中心，在周边4省同时抗击日军进攻，是抗日战争战略防御阶段规模最大、时间最长、歼敌最多的一次战役。中国军队最终以伤亡40余万的代价，毙伤日军25.7余万。在会战中，两国军队都使用了海陆空联合作战，日军还使用了毒气弹，会战以中国军队撤退而告终。日军攻占了武汉和广州，控制了中国腹地，但该战役消耗了部分日军兵力，摧毁了其令国民政府投降、赢得对中国战争胜利的企图。

　　As a large-scale battle of the war against Japanese aggression, the Wuhan Battle involved simultaneous resistance made by Chinese troops against attacks by the Japanese in four provinces. With Wuhan (Hubei) as the center, these attacks lasted from June to October of 1938. This battle featured the largest scale, longest duration, and most enemies fallen (by Chinese troops) of the strategic defense during the war against Japanese aggression. The respective casualties for the Chinese troops and Japanese troops were over 400,000 and 257,000. Both the Chinese and Japanese troops carried out marine, land, and airborne operations—but the Japanese troops also implemented chemical warfare. The battle ended with the withdrawal of the Chinese troops and the Japanese occupation of Wuhan, Guangzhou, and the Chinese hinterland. Despite the Chinese withdrawal, the battle diminished the Japanese force and frustrated the Japanese attempt to bring the national government to terms. In many ways, it prevented the Japanese domination of China.
