Taixue refers to a national college in ancient China. It was located in the western suburbs of Luoyi Imperial City. The title "taixue" originated in the Western Zhou Dynasty. During the period of five sovereigns, "taixue" was called "chengjun". Its name varied in the Xia ("Dongxu"), Shang ("Youxue"), and Zhou ("Shangyang") Dynasties.
