Mt. Kunlun is a mountain in Central Asia with an average altitude of 5,500-6,000 m and is the backbone of mountains in western China. It is composed of two or three parallel ridges. With eastern Pamirs to its west, Mt. Kunlun crosses Xinjiang and Tibet and further stretches eastward towards Qinghai Province. It enjoys the status of "the earliest mountain of all" in the history of the Chinese nation.
