　　昆仑山，亚洲中部大山系，也是中国西部山系的主干，由2条或3条平行的山岭构成。西起帕米尔高原东部，横贯新疆、西藏间，伸延至青海境内，平均海拔5500-6000米。昆仑山在民族的文化史上具有“万山之祖”的地位。昆仑山区有100多种高等植物，野生动物都是高原特有的如藏羚羊、野牦牛、野驴等，是中原地区玉石的主要来源。

　　Mt. Kunlun is a mountain in Central Asia with an average altitude of 5,500-6,000 m and is the backbone of mountains in western China. It is composed of two or three parallel ridges. With eastern Pamirs to its west, Mt. Kunlun crosses Xinjiang and Tibet and further stretches eastward towards Qinghai Province. It enjoys the status of "the earliest mountain of all" in the history of the Chinese nation. It is home to over 100 higher plant varieties and wild animals specific to plateaus such as antelopes, wild yaks and wild donkeys. Besides, it is a main source of jade stone in the central part of China.
