卢沟桥,亦称“芦沟桥”,位于北京市西南丰台区永定河上,是北京市现存最古老的石造联拱桥。卢沟桥为十一孔联拱桥,总长266.5米,桥身总宽9.3米。桥两侧石雕护栏各有140条望柱,柱头上均雕有石狮,形态各异,据记载原有627个,现存501个。1937年7月7日,日本军队在此发动全面侵华战争,史称“卢沟桥事变”。1961年列入全国重点文物保护单位。

The Lugou Bridge, also known as the Marco Polo Bridge, is located over the Yongding River in the Fengtai district in the south-west of Beijing. It is currently the oldest combined stone arch bridge in Beijing. The Lugou Bridge is a combined stone arch bridge with 11 arches, and an entire length of 266.5 meters and width of 9.3 meters. There are 140 baluster columns on the stone fences, on both sides of the bridge. These columns are carved with stone lions which all express various gestures. It was recorded that there were originally 627 stone lions, but the existing lions only number 501. On July 7, 1937, the Japanese army launched a comprehensive war of aggression against China, known as, "The Lugou Bridge Incident".
