　　1.undertake vt.试图，企图;着手做，从事;承担;接受，同意;保证

　　【例】Christer Fuglesang, the first Swede to go intoorbit, will undertake essential work on the spacestation.

　　I can’t undertake that you will make a profit from thedeal.

　　我不能保证你会从这次交易中获利。

　　【用】undertake后面可以接动词不定式，是“答应做…”的意思。

　　2.charitable adj.慈善的;宽厚的，慷慨的

　　【记】联想记忆：charit( y)(慈善)+able(…的)--慈善的

　　【例】charitable donation.

　　慈善捐赠。

　　3.brief adj.简短的，简洁的;短哲的 n.概要，摘要，短文

　　【例】The book gives brief outline of the course of his research up till now.

　　in brief : The chairman asked him to give the report in brief.

　　主席让他做一个简短的报告。

　　【用】in brief常用于连接两个句子，表示概括性总结，意为“简而言之”。
