　　统一战线是指不同集团的人为了相同目的结成的共同阵营。在不同历史时期，其作用与内涵不同。毛泽东于1935年在《论反对日本帝国主义的策略》中首先提出了“统一战线”理论，当时建立的是全国“抗日民族统一战线”。新中国成立后，在新的历史时期的统一战线，是指由中国共产党领导的，由全体社会主义的劳动者，拥护社会主义的爱国者和拥护祖国统一的爱国者组成的，包括台湾同胞、港澳同胞和国外侨胞在内的最广泛的爱国统一战线。

　　The United Front is an alliance of different groups working towards the same goals. Its meaning and role vary over time. When Mao Zedong first put forward the theory of united front in his famous 1935 essay "On Tactics Against Japanese Imperialism", what he referred to was the National United Front against Japanese Aggression. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the new united front refers to the widest patriotic united front including compatriots from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao and overseas under the leadership of the Communist Party of China and supported by all the working people of the socialist society, patriots in favor of socialism, and patriots in favor of the unification of China.
