  1. parliamentarian ['pɑrləmən'tɛrɪən]

  N-COUNT Parliamentarians are members of a parliament; used especially to refer to a group who are dealing with a particular task. 议会议员,国会议员

  eg: At around three in the afternoon, a parliamentarian walked in the hall. 大约下午3点钟,一位国会议员走进了大厅。

  2. forbearance [fɔr'bɛrəns]

  N-UNCOUNT If you say that someone has shown forbearance, you admire them for behaving in a calm and sensible way about something that they have a right to be very upset or angry about. 宽容,自制,忍耐

  eg: We've always taken an attitude of forbearance.

  我们一向采取克制的态度。

  3. placate ['pleket]

  V-T If you placate someone, you do or say something to make them stop feeling angry. 安抚,平息愤怒

  eg: His intent is clearly not to placate his critics.

  他的目的明显不适安抚批评他的人。

  4. lenient ['linɪənt]

  ADJ When someone in authority is lenient, they are not as strict or severe as expected. 宽大的,仁慈的

  eg: The judge was lenient with the wrongdoer.

  note: wrongdoer, N-COUNT A wrongdoer is a person who does things that are immoral or illegal. 作恶者; 犯罪者

  5. dodgy ['dɑdʒi]

  ADJ risky, difficult, or dangerous 冒险的; 困难的; 危险的;

  ADJ marked by skill in deception 善于骗人的,狡猾的

  eg: He a dodgy bloke, I wouldn't trust him an inch.

  note: bloke, N an informal or dialect word for man 家伙;小子

  6. prosecution [,prɑsɪ'kjuʃən]

  N-VAR Prosecution is the action of charging someone with a crime and putting them on trial. 起诉;

  N-SING The lawyers who try to prove that a person on trial is guilty are called the prosecution. 原告律师

  eg: Failure to pay your taxes will make you liable to prosecution.

  不缴纳税款就可能被起诉。

  7. rigorously ['rigərəsli]

  ADV, severely, harshly 严厉地;残酷地

  eg: He had been trained rigorously by the boss.

  他曾受到老板的严格训练。

  8. aberration ['æbə'reʃən]

  N-VAR An aberration is an incident or way of behaving that is not typical.失常;离开正路,脱离常轨

  eg: Owing to a strange mental aberration, he forgot his own name.

  note: owe to,由于, 归功于,owing to,由于,因为

  9. generic [dʒə'nɛrɪk]

  ADJ You use generic to describe something that refers or relates to a whole class of similar things.通用的;

  ADJ A generic drug or other product is one that does not have a trademark and that is known by a general name, rather than the manufacturer's name. 非注册商标的 (药等产品)

  eg: Generic user IDs are easier to maintain but have a lower level of security.

  通用的用户ID更易于维护但安全水平较低。

  10. disgorge [dɪs'ɡɔrdʒ]

  V-T If something disgorges its contents, it empties them out. 倒出,被迫交出;

  V-T eject the contents of the stomach through the mouth 吐出;

  V-T cause or allow (a solid substance) to flow or run out or over 香槟酒酿制过程中的一道程序,即在插入最后的软木塞前,把沉淀物从酒瓶中取出

  eg: They persuaded him to disgorge the missing documents.

  他们劝他交出不见的文件。
