一、历史进程
丝绸之路(the Silk Road)是中国古代最著 名的贸易路线。在这条路上运输的商品中，丝绸占很大部分，因此得名“丝绸之路“。丝绸之路从长安一直延伸到印度、罗马等国家。丝绸之路始于汉代，到唐代时最为兴盛。骆驼曾是丝绸之路上的主要交通工具。丝绸之路不仅仅是古代国际贸易路线，更是连接亚洲、非洲、欧洲的文化桥梁。
The Silk Road is the most well-known trade route in ancient China. It got its name as silk comprised a large proportion of commodities transported along this road. The Silk Road extended from Chang'an, the ancient capital of China, to countries as far as India and Roman Empire. It came into being during the Han Dynasty and reached its peak in the Tang Dynasty. And camels were the major means of transportation. The road was not only an ancient international trade route, but also a cultural bridge linking Asia with Africa and Europe.
二、发展建设
人类社会正处在一个大发展大变革大调整时代。4年来，全球100多个国家和国际组织积极支持和参与“一带一路“建设。人文交流也是“一带一路“建设的重要组成部分，各国都在努力建设“丝绸之路“和“健康丝绸之路“。今年5月，主席在“一带一路“国际合作论坛开幕式上致辞时表示，中国政府将每年向参与该倡议的国家提供1万个政府奖学金名额。
Humankind has reached an age of great progress, great transformation and profound changes. Four years on, over 100 countries and international organizations have supported and got involved in the Belt and Road Initiative. People-to-people exchange has also been an important part of this initiative, with participating countries pulling every effort to build the Silk Road and the health Silk Road. Every year, the Chinese government will provide 10,000 government scholarships to countries participating in the Initiative, according to President Xi Jinping, who spoke at the opening ceremony of the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in May.
三、经济贸易
2014年至2016年，中国同“一带一路“沿线国家贸易总额超过3万亿美元。中国对“一带一路“沿线国家投资累计超过500亿美元。中国企业已经在20多个国家建设56个经贸合作区，为有关国家创造近11亿美元税收和18万个就业岗位。中国同“一带一路“建设参与国和组织开展了多种形式的金融合作。亚洲基础设施投资银行已经为“一带一路“建设参与国的9个项目提供17亿美元贷款。
Trade between China and other Belt and Road countries exceeded 3 trillion U.S. dollars in the 2014-2016 period, and China's investment in these countries surpassed 50 billion dollars. Chinese companies have set up 56 economic cooperation zones in over 20 countries, generating some 1.1 billion dollars of tax revenue and 180,000 jobs for them. China has engaged in multiple forms of financial cooperation with countries and organizations involved in the Belt and Road Initiative. The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank have provided 1.7 billion dollars of loans for nine projects in Belt and Road countries.
