Air quality in Beijing continued to improve in 2019 as the municipality intensified efforts to prevent and control air pollution, according to a communique released by the Beijing Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau on April 27.
Beijing actively advanced international exchanges and cooperation and shared green development experience on multiple platforms in 2019.
4月27日，北京市生态环境局发布的公报显示，随着大气污染防治工作的深入开展，2019年北京市空气质量持续改善。

Coronavirus has been detected on particles of air pollution by scientists investigating whether this could enable it to be carried over longer distances and increase the number of people infected.
The work is preliminary and it is not yet known if the virus remains viable on pollution particles and in sufficient quantity to cause disease.
科学家日前在空气污染物颗粒上发现了新冠病毒，他们正在研究，这是否能使病毒传播得更远，并增加感染人数。

The Shaojiu residential community in Dongcheng District of Beijing on May 17 started a fine management project of household waste.
Various measures including installing intelligent garbage bins, providing garbage bags imprinted traceable and different QR codes to households and garbage sorting-themed games were taken to help residents better engage in garbage sorting and raise awareness for environmental protection.
5月17日，北京市东城区韶九社区启动生活垃圾精细化管理项目。
项目通过在试点小区内设置智能分类垃圾桶、发放二维码溯源垃圾袋和举办以垃圾分类为主题的趣味游戏等方式，引导社区居民更好地参与垃圾分类，提高环保意识。

Chinese researchers have developed a high-resolution digital soil atlas for the whole country, which will play an important role in arable land conservation, pollution control and environmental quality assessment.
