When setting price for new products, first we should take production costs into consideration, production costs should be covered in prices and selling below cost can not help businesses maintain a healthy development. For newly-established companies, however, in order to capture the public attention to their companies and brand, they might set prices below their product costs for a brief period.
Secondly, competitor’s prices is another important factor in pricing, today’s market is mainly buyer’s market when all customers would go for higher quality with lower price. To survive the cruel competition with rivals, we should always keep competitor’s price in mind. Customers will make decisions based upon prices, service and product quality. Of course, we can’t expect occupy the market by lowering price blindly, which will destroy the stability of business.
What’s more, when pricing, we should clarify our target customers. Different types of customers have different senses of prices. Some customers believe that higher prices mean higher quality, while others only pay attention to performance price ratio. Correct pricing policies should satisfy different tastes of potential customers.
