Teaching aims:
Knowledge aims:
Students are able to understand the content of the passage.
Students can master the meaning of the new phrases “under construction” “rush hours” “make sure”.
Ability aim:
Students can use different basic reading strategies like analyzing in their reading process.
After this lesson, students can use the new phrases to communicate in their daily life.
Emotional aim:
Students will get confidence of speaking English in public.
Students will be more interested in Chinese culture.
Key and difficult point:
Key Point: master the usage and meaning of the phrases.
Difficult Point: have interest in Chinese culture.
Teaching procedures:
Step 1: Warming-up
1.Greeting: talk about weather
2.Show them a video about interesting places in Beijing, and ask students “when we mention Beijing, what else comes to your mind?”
Step 2: Presentation
1.Ask students to open the book and the teacher reads the passage and ask students “which kinds of transportation are mentioned in the passage?”.
2.Ask students to read the passage again and circle the phrases that they can’t understand. Then invite a student write down the phrases on the blackboard.

Step 3: Practice
Ask students use the new phrases to translate Chinese sentences into English.
Step4: Production

Step5: Summary and Homework
Summary: ask a student to read the phrases, explain the, meaning and conclude the main idea of the lesson.
Homework: Try to surf on the Internet and find more information about different kinds of transportation.

Base on this lesson, I use PPP teaching mode. They are presentation, practice and production.
First, presentation, in this pat I let my students to read the article and find out difficult phrases. Then ask them to write the phrases on the blackboard, and explain the meaning. Second, practice, to make my student master the knowledge better, I give them some sentences in Chinese and let them translate them into English with new phrases. Third, production, I divide them into groups to let them cooperate together to retell the article with the information on the blackboard.
