Your studies
1) What subject(s)are you studying?
Since my major is English translation, so the subjects I am learning are all related to translation, for example, the Theory of English Translation, Document Translation, English Interpretation, Legal Translation, and so on.
2) Why did you choose to study that subject?/ Why did you choose to study that subjects?
Actually, as a student majoring in English translation, those subjects were my foundation courses, which would provide me with basic theoretical knowledge. So, when doing the translation, the knowledge I have learned from those courses can help me a lot.
3) Do you like your subjects?(Why?/Why not?)
Yes, I do. I like those subjects very much. I am interested in English translation. The knowledge I have learned from these courses will help me a lot in my future career. For example, the theories I learned in the English Translation Theory class are beneficial to me when translating the literary works. So, I like my subjects very much.
No, I do not like my subjects. I find the knowledge I have learned from those subjects is too theoretical while the translation is a very practical course. So, I do not think the knowledge I have learned from these courses will help me a lot in the future. That is why I do not like my subjects.
4) Is it very interesting?
Yes, it is since the teachers are vey humorous. I used to think that the theoretical subjects would be useless and boring. However, the teachers are very excellent, they use the concise and vivid language and words to explain the boring and difficult theories, making me more and more interested in those subjects.
No, I think the subjects are very boring. I think translation is a practical work, however, those subjects are too theoretical. I have learned a lot of theories from famous translators in history, but I do not have the chance to do some practical work in the class. So I think these subjects are very boring.
5) (Possibly) Are you looking forward to working?
Yes, I am. I want to put the theories have learned from class into practice. Furthermore, I want to earn the money to relieve my parent’s burden, they have spent too much money and time on me since my birth, I really want to support the whole family by myself.
No, I am not. After working, I have to face the pressure of supporting the family, buying a house or a car. Furthermore, I can no longer arrange my schedule according to my willing, since I am not as free as before.
6) Do you prefer to study in the mornings or in the afternoon?
I prefer to study in the morning. As an old saying goes: “Morning hours are the best time of the day to work.” In the morning, I can memorize things efficiently and I won’t feel sleepy as well. So I prefer to study in the morning.
I prefer to study in the afternoon. Although it is said that morning hours are the best time of the day to work, unlike other people, I always feel sleepy in the morning. So, I prefer to study in the afternoon when I have a clearer mind.
