Your work
1) What work do you do?
I am an English translator now, and I have been working as a translator for several years,I really enjoy this job and I hope that I will achieve greater success in the future.
2) Why did you chose to do that type of work(or, that job)?
My major is English translation and I really love Chinese and Western literature, Working as a translator makes me read more books and introduce more foreign literary works to our Chinese people and I think it is really meaningful.
3) Do you like your job?
Yes, I really like my job. I am an English lover, and I enjoy reading Chinese and western literary works, which makes me read many books and help me broaden my horizon. Moreover,English translation is my major, and I think it is a happy thing to do a job directly related to my major. So I really like my job.
No, I do not like my job. Although I like English very much, as an English translator, I have to sit in front of the computer for more than eight hours everyday. In this case, I do not have too much spare time to exercise or hang out with my friends. I really fell tired about that. Moreover, I even have to stay up late when there is an urgent translation task. So, I do not like my job.
4) Is it very interesting?
Yes, it is. I can know more about different writing styles of writers from western countries while translating. I think it is an interesting thing to analyze the themes as well as the traits of characters in the literary works. So I think this job is very interesting to me.
No, I do not think it is very interesting. Everyday, I have to sit in front of the computer and tap the keyboard for more than ten hours. It is not very good for my eyes and health since I do not have time to do exercise. To be honest, it is really boring for me.
5) (Possibly) Do you miss being a student?
Yes, I do. When I was a student, I was really free. I could arrange my schedule by myself and I did not have to face the pressure in work and life. I could hang out with my friends and read my favorite books whenever I want. So, I really miss being a student.
No, I don’t. When I was a student, I had to ask my parents for money to buy the things I want. Since I was already an adult, it was really embarrassing. For me, I prefer having a job to support myself to being a student.
