　　The Wolf Totem

　　The Wolf Totem, written by Jiang Rong, was published in 2004 and was the first Chinese novel with the narrative subject of wolves. The author describes the world of the wolves, and calls for the harmonious coexistence of man and nature from an autobiographical narrative point of view. The story is based in the Mongolian steppe during the Cultural Revolution. The novel became a symbolic cultural phenomenon at the beginning of the 21st century, which triggered the theoretical reflection on the relationship between communication, and the transformation of the Chinese national character.
