　　1.knock n.一击，敲门(声)v.打，击，敲;相撞

　　【例】knock down The motorist had to swerve toavoid knocking the old woman down in the middle ofthe road.

　　司机不得不突然转弯以避免撞到路中间的老妇人。(2000)

　　【用】knock的搭配比较多，需要重点记忆一下：knockdown意为“击倒，撞倒，击落;降低(价格等)”;knock off意为“把…敲掉，击倒;停止工作”;knock out意为“敲空：击倒，打昏”，

　　2.quality n.质量，品级，品质;性质，特性

　　【例】The quality of service in the shop has improved greatly.

　　这家商店的服务质量大大提高了。

　　【派】qualitative(adj.质量上的，性质上的;(化学)定性的]

　　【辨】quality，quantity二者形似，但意义不同。quality表示“质量”;quantity表示“数量”，两个词常对应使用。

　　3.bewilder vt.迷惑，把…弄糊涂

　　【记】联想记忆：be(使)+wild(荒野的)+er--因找不到路而迷失荒野--迷惑

　　【例】I was a little bewildered by the sudden news.

　　这个突然的消息让我感到有点迷惑。

　　【辨】bewilder, puzzle, bewilder是指脑子有些糊涂，所以迷惑;puzzle是指被难住，很迷惑，注意二者的区别。

　　4.warrant n.授权(证);逮捕状;正当理由 vt.证明(某事物)正当、有理或恰当

　　【例】An Indian court issues an arrest warrant for Richard Gere for publicly kissing actressShilpa Shetty.

　　某印度法院因理查德?吉尔公开亲吻女影星希尔帕?谢蒂而对其下达逮捕令。

　　Adolph has done nothing to warrant the criminal prosecution.

　　阿道夫没有做任何事来证明这起刑事起诉是正当的。

　　5.length n.长度，距离

　　【例】at length The judger spoke at length about the court ruling.

　　法官就法庭裁决作了详尽的发言。

　　【用】at length除了有“详尽地”的意思外，还有“最后，终于”的意思。

　　【派】lengthen(v.延长，延伸)

　　6.inspect v.检查，审查;检阅，视察，参观

　　【记】词根记忆：in(进入)+spect(看)--进去看--检查;视察

　　【例】We heard that the top brass will come to inspect our company.

　　我们听说那位高级官员要来视察我们公司。

　　【派】inspection(n.检查，视察);inspector(n.检查员，督察员)

　　7.angular adj.尖锐的，有角的，角形的;(指人)瘦骨嶙峋的

　　【例】Here, everything is composed of sharp and angular surfaces.
